About this site

This site is an online companion to a dissertation project, "Editing Forms: The Emergence of Editorship in Nineteenth-Century U.S. Periodicals" by Jim Casey.

These materials relate to the second half of the project in which I focus on the networks of editors in the pre-Civil War press. The project was completed at the University of Delaware in 2017 under the supervision of John Ernest. For more on the larger project, see the dissertation abstract.

For a copy of the most relevant chapter, "Conducted by Ourselves," please write to me at jimccasey1 [at] gmail.com.

If you are researching the early African-American press, or want to know how you can use or contribute to these materials as they grow into a larger project, please be in touch
